A big thank you to Ingo Fanslau of Pepe’s Chop House, Chef Paramjit Gill, and Trish James of Stylezone Fashions & Evolucion Clothing for the delicious food and wonderful entertainment at the recent fundraising evening for the Sea to Sky Hospice Society. Your hard work and dedication to the local community helped us raise $4,000, and we are truly grateful!

For those of you who missed it, Jody Kramer, the Client Services Coordinator, spoke with Darren McPeake of Mtn FM Radio fame, this past Tuesday to share insights about the upcoming events and fall programs being offered by the Sea to Sky Hospice Society.

We wanted to share Jody’s interview with you here, so that you too, could learn about what is on the fall schedule.

Thank you for your support Darren, Mtn. FM and Jody Kramer for all that you do on behalf of the Hospice Society!

This past week we held our first mini-training session: Facilitating a Grief & Loss Walking Group

Facilitating a Grief & Loss Walking Group is such an impactful way to support others. Carlee Baker’s insights were invaluable, especially in sharing practical tips for facilitating these sensitive discussions. This was a great opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers and learn from their experiences as well. These kinds of sessions really help build confidence and foster a supportive community.

Caroline generously shared two wonderful quilts that she made for us to use for fundraising and to have as a bed warmer in the hospice unit.

Thank you for your gift Caroline, we are honoured by your generosity.

The Sea to Sky Hospice Society has been fortunate to receive significant support through recent fundraising events:

  • Charity Pickleball Tournament: Organized by Kai Bacon in honor of his uncle Peter, who passed away in hospice last summer. The tournament was held on the new Pickleball Courts at Brennan Park this past Saturday. Thank you, Kai, for your heartfelt tribute and generous support!
  • Annual Cold Water Swim: Katie Coombs and the Squamish Swim Wild group participated in their annual cold water swim at Alice Lake, raising funds for the Hospice Society. Katie, we deeply appreciate your dedication and the efforts of your team.
  • Saturday Afternoon Putting Competition: Hosted by the Squamish Valley Golf Club, this event is quickly becoming a cherished tradition. Managed by Scott Wengi, the competition featured a 4-hole course and attracted 203 entries over 5 hours, raising $2,030. Alongside the $1,190 from the 50/50 draw and an anonymous $2,000 donation, the event raised a total of $5,220 for the hospice. Congratulations to Graydon Kohne for winning the 50/50 draw!

The Sea to Sky Hospice Society extends heartfelt thanks to the community for their unwavering support and generosity. With gratitude, Leslie and the Board of Directors.

Share a tradition and gather in community for the 12th annual Memory Tree Event.

The holidays can prove to be a difficult time of year for anyone grieving. Take time to honour your loved ones that are with us in spirit, during this evening of love and light. This gathering will be a supportive community event. There will be a candle lighting ceremony, and a brief memorial for those grieving the death of a loved one.

Ceremony begins at 5:15 pm, Friday, November 29th, at the Squamish Town Hub (behind Cloudburst Cafe).

Co-hosted by the Sea to Sky Hospice Society and the Squamish Funeral Chapel.

We would like acknowledge the generous support of Home Depot for the trees, our amazing volunteers for installing the lights and to Cloudburst Cafe for the delicious hot chocolate! Thank you, your support means so much to us!
