An energetic and kind group of children recently donated the proceeds from their bike safety rodeo to the Sea to Sky Hospice Society for their programs and services.
Kathy Leverton, a member of the Rotary Club Pemberton is involved with a young service group at the Signal Hill Elementary School called Early Act with students from grade 4-7.
They ran a Safety Rodeo in which the RCMP and Tribal Police came and ran a Bike Rodeo all day, the Ambulance/Paramedics were at the school in the morning and the Fire Smart and Fire Fighters were there in the afternoon. The K-3/4 students all had a chance to participate in the Bike Rodeo throughout the day. The K-1/2 students were also able to have tours and ask questions with the ambulance in the morning and the fire rescue in the afternoon.
The EarlyAct students volunteered throughout the day to help spot bikers on the ramps and jumps, and also act as runners to make sure each class showed up at their station on time. They all did a great job. This was a fundraiser for the Sea to Sky Hospice Society and they asked the primary students for a suggested donation of a Tooney. The Early Act students managed to raise $353.85 for the Hospice.
Thank you, we are so grateful for your support!
