This past Saturday was an exciting day for the hospice society as work began on the new gazebo in the beautiful garden behind the hospice unit. A team of volunteers led by Dr. Judith Fothergill were on site to get the project started. Thank you to Ken Rhodes for his landscaping expertise and his assistant operating the mini excavator the for the foundation blocks and paths. Tony Rainbow of the SLRD was on hand to witness first hand the use of funds generously donated by the SLRD for the construction of the gazebo and David Quiring was there to oversee that his drawings for the building are followed.
The gazebo will offer a lovely space for patients and families visiting the hospice to enjoy the serenity of the gardens and the beautiful views of the mountains will seeking shelter from the elements.
There will also be a memory path in and out of the gazebo for those wishing to make a donation and have a memory engraved in the pavers. Stay tuned for more details.
Please check back in the next few weeks to see more photos of the progress of the project.
