SUMMARY:Wave of Light Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:For all of grieving families who have suffered the loss of a pregnancy or an infant\, we offer this space to come together and light a candle.\nAcross the globe every October 15th\, we light a candle at 7pm\, and leave it burning for an hour\, to give space for the memory of our loved ones gone far too soon. We will make lanterns together  during this hour. Sweet snacks and warm beverages will be provided\, as well as all supplies\, including candles. Families who wish to bring their small children are welcome\, with the understanding that all families will help to create this gentle space for grieving.

DESCRIPTION:Walking together on the beautiful trails that surround Whistler\, participants will experience a “Forest Bath” while sharing their grief journey in this peer support group\, co-facilitated by WCSS Outreach workers and Hospice Society Bereavement volunteers. Wherever you may be in your grief journey\, all are welcome and no registration is required.\n\nThursday afternoons from 1-2:30\, beginning September 18th\, until October 23rd. DESCRIPTION:There is such a wealth of writing around caregiving\, mortality\, grief and loss. In this casual discussion group\, we share our thoughts and experiences around these topics through the guidance of these books. \nFor our Fall Equinox Book Circle\, we will discuss “When Breath Becomes Air\, by Paul Kalanathi”. Those experiencing grief or loss or facing serious illness themselves are encouraged to join us\, although everyone is welcome. Registration required. \nNote also the date for the Winter Solstice Book Circle\, coming up on December 16th. DESCRIPTION:Please join us to cut up some “kits” of fabric to create Celestial Bags for our patients’ families. After a loved one passes away\, our medical staff give them a handmade quilted bag\, with grief resource materials and any of the patient’s items from their room. It’s a gentle way to help mourners transition from anticipatory grief to bereavement grief.\n\n\nPlease contact jody.kramer@seatoskyhospicesociety.ca\, or call 604-892-6051 ext 5\, to let us know if you’ll join us to make up some fabric kits for our dedicated sewing volunteers.
